Under the vast sea of Electronic waste generation in India, Gairik Consultancy Pvt Ltd facilitates the sale of electronics, which means the responsibility of what happens to those products at end-of-life sits partly with us. This policy explains the crucial steps taken by us to ensure the safety of not only our environment but also the legal framework of India.

1.  What Is E-Waste?

In The Most Simple Terms: Any electrical or electronic device that has stopped working, become obsolete, or is no longer wanted. 

Reminder: Most items contain lead, mercury, cadmium, and brominated flame retardants -they need to be handled with more care

On the Gairik platform, e-waste includes but is not limited to:

                  • Smartphones, tablets, laptops, and wearables

                  • Chargers, cables, power banks, and batteries of all types

                  • Televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners

                  • Routers, printers, speakers, keyboards

2.  What Gairik Does

Authorised Recycling Only

By partnering solely with CPCB-registered recyclers, we ensure collected e-waste bypasses informal scrap dealers, maintaining strictly regulated, authorized disposal channels throughout.

Take-Back Programme

Buying a new appliance or phone through Gairik? You can schedule a free pickup of your old device at the time of checkout. We arrange collection, hand it to an authorised recycling partner, and provide a disposal certificate on request. No paperwork on your end — just tick the box.

Vendor Obligations

Every vendor registered on the Gairik platform agrees, as a condition of listing, to the following:

• Products must be labelled with e-waste handling instructions where required by law

• No misleading claims about recyclability or environmental credentials

• Full cooperation with Gairik's take-back and collection drives

-Therefore, Vendors who repeatedly breach these terms face delisting.

3.  What You Can Do as a Customer

Responsible disposal does not have to be complicated. Here is what we ask:

           • Never put old electronics or any hazardous materials inside trash, as it can contain local waste stream.

           • Use “take-back” options while you are doing the device replacement procedure

           • Contact our support team to get the most locations of the most environmentally friendly products

           • “Factory reset” for memory clean is crucial while handing over old devices 

-Gairik does not take responsibility for personal data left on returned products.

4.  Legal Framework & Compliance

This policy operates within the following statutory and legal terms under Indian government policies: 

                   • E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016 (amended 2018 and 2022): As the primary delegated legislation in India, this rule talks about the “Extended Producer Responsibility” (EPR), and by following this, Gairik ensures proper restoration or distruction of used products.

                   • Environment (Protection) Act, 1986: Understanding this law, Gairik shows hard-earned determination to omit dangers that violates the act and also triggers various civil liabilities in India as well as the global market.

                   • Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016: With this act in mind, Gairik ensures that no Hazardous wastes are collected, transported, or quickly disposed of without following porper protocols.

-Non-compliance with the above statutes is not treated internally as a procedural lapse. It is treated as a serious legal and reputational risk that the company actively works to avoid.
